FALL IS COMING, FALL IS COMING!

I love fall

I love the cool breeze and the crunchy leaves that fall to the ground

You look up, and all that was green has turned to autumn shades of orange and brown

Pumpkin spice lattes and muffins in the oven make your house smell like fall is returning

All is well with warm blankets and a cup of delicious coffee in the morning

Gilmore Girls on for the hundredth time

Finding a good book to read that fits the vibe

Football games on every weekend I wish football season had no end

Pumpkin patch pictures to capture the time

Thick, cozy sweaters that make you feel warm inside

Baking too much, you gain a few pounds

Hearing the rustling of the leaves, gosh I love that sound

I love fall, I really do

Lovely summer took its time and then flew

I long for fall and the joy that it brings

I long for the day I hear the leaves

A new season is coming, I feel it in my bones

Bring on the change, let it come

Well, that was just a little poem I wrote about fall because I felt inspired, and I just really love fall if you couldn’t tell. I told you before that I'm a songwriter, so I write poems occasionally. Kind of the same thing, right? Now that it's September, you know what that means?! FALL IS COMING! September 22 at 8:43 AM will mark the official start to the fall season. Why does it start at an oddly specific time? That's because it's the exact moment that Earth's axis is neither tilted nor turned away from the sun. The sun is right over the equator, essentially, resulting in equal daylight and night time all over the world. If you didn't know that, hey, you learned something new! The official start to fall is less than 2 weeks away! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not much of a Halloween girl. I don't do horror movies or scary things. You won't see me going in any haunted houses or corn mazes. But I LOVE pumpkin everything. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin cream cold brew (my current go-to at Starbucks), pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, etc.

Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel in 'Gilmore Girls.'

I'm kind of obsessed with Gilmore Girls, and I rewatch it every fall season as does most every Gilmore Girls fan. It just really shouts, "FALL." You may be wondering what team I am. And the answer to that is: team Logan all the way. Now, Rory did have a lot of issues because I mean look at her mom. She watched her mom go through toxic relationships. (SPOILER ALERT!! SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED ALL OF GILMORE GIRLS YET!!) I was so upset when she turned down Logan's proposal, and then proceeded to get with him in the reboot AFTER he was engaged to another woman?? Can't say I'm surprised though since we all saw what happened with Dean in Season 4 and 5, yikes. Now, I do love older Jess though. "Why did you drop out of Yaleeeee?" Classic.

I put my poem in ChatGPT, and it made this picture to capture the essence of it.

I smell fall just around the corner. Don't you? Or that could just be the pumpkin spice smells from the coffee shops now. I will say, where I live, it's still pretty hot. But I'm trying to ignore the weather at the moment and enjoy my Gilmore Girls rewatch sessions while being cozied up on the couch with a warm blanket and hot cup of coffee. I. Love. Fall. I really love the "in between seasons." They have the perfect weather in my opinion. Not too hot, not too cold, just right. Spring means flowers are blooming and the weather is quite literally perfect. Fall means things are finally cooling off a little, but it's still not time for winter yet. Also, just a heads up, I am a Christmas fanatic, and I do indeed watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving (call me crazy, I don't care). I just love the short period of time where I can have the best of both worlds! When Starbucks has both fall drinks AND holiday drinks on the menu at the same time?? It's a glorious time. Also, I have a huge list of Christmas movies I have to watch every single year, so I always have to get a headstart. So just beware, there may be Christmas related blog posts in November. But that's a November issue.

exhibit A- the flannel+bootcut jeans+cowboy boots

Back to fall! Sorry, I tend to ramble on sometimes when I get excited. I do that in person too, so it's not just you. Can we talk about the fall outfits we get to wear?? Like sweater weather is the best thing ever. I LOVE putting on cute sweaters or flannels and some baggy jeans (or bootcut or straight) and some comfy shoes. Fall outfits are the comfiest outfits, and you can't tell me otherwise. I definitely love to rock out the cowboy boots from time to time too. I'm a southern girl at heart.

Do y'all have any good fall baking recipes? I have a few saved on Pinterest, but if y'all have like the best pumpkin muffin recipe ever, please don't hold out on us, and drop it in the comments! Help a girl out, please 🙏 . I don't bake often but when I do, I have so much fun. I really love trying new recipes and making things homemade. While baking mixes are convenient and easy and taste great, there's something special about starting from scratch. And you have no clue how they'll turn out, and that just adds to the excitement and suspense. That's kind of deep when you think about it. When you start from scratch in life like you move to a new city and know no one and nothing is handed to you, it can be scary because you don't know how it'll turn out. Sometimes it can be pretty bad, but sometimes it can turn out really freaking good. But, it's an adventure! It's exciting. Didn't mean to go that deep in this, but when I reread that, I was like dang, that's deep.

As a huge music lover, I also love finding or making fall vibes playlists. I pretty much have a playlist for every occasion. It makes me so happy listening to fall music driving while sipping on a pumpkin cream cold brew or pumpkin spice latte. So good. Music really adds to any already great experience. Maybe that's just because I'm a music freak, but I resort to listening to music any time I feel any emotion possible. I'm happy? I listen to music. I'm sad? I especially listen to music. Bored? I listen to some music. You get the point.

Let's see, we've covered science, baking, TV, fashion, music, and then me just rambling on. I'd say we did a pretty good job of covering everything fall! That is, if you leave out all the spooky stuff. Like I said, not my thing.

So, I guess that will be it for this week! Make sure to hit that subscribe button if you liked this, and comment your favorite thing about fall.
