Why making time for Jesus in the busyness is so important...

ree

We've all had periods in our lives where we just get so busy. Whether it's from school or work or juggling a bunch of relationships, busyness is bound to happen. And a lot of times, when we get busy, we aren't necessarily spending a whole lot of time with Jesus. There's so much to do, where is the time for that? Well, I am going to tell you why it is important to spend time with Jesus ESPECIALLY in the busyness.

It is only through Him that we can receive supernatural energy and peace that we can utilize through the busyness. Basically, when you're spending consistent time with Him, He can actually help you manage the busyness in a more healthy way. Plus, you'll probably feel a whole lot better post busyness. Doesn't that sound amazing? It’s so easy to get caught up in life and work and school that we push our time with Jesus on the back burner. I have found myself doing this sometimes as well. The beautiful thing is that Jesus can give us the strength to walk through the busyness. If we use our own strength, it leaves us with this feeling of exhaustion and a feeling of burnout. And, if we’re constantly “go go go” all the time, it’s easy to forget about investing time in our relationship with Jesus. But, your relationship with Jesus should be the most important relationship in your life. Sit on that for a moment.

The one thing I believe that is so important to remind ourselves is that the whole reason we were put on this earth is to advance His kingdom. That really puts everything into perspective. Every earthly thing that we know and love doesn’t matter half as much as our relationship and walk with Jesus. Jesus should actually be the most important thing in our lives. But when we get caught up in busyness, our priorities tend to change. We have work as our number 1 for a period of time or perhaps school. We could also put our relationships at number 1. But, if our priorities change in their order, our whole life will change as a result of that. If our life doesn’t reflect Jesus as our number 1 priority, everything in our lives is going to be out of wack. We’ll find ourselves tired and anxious all the time. Because that’s what happens when we do things with our own strength. Jesus is the only one who can give us supernatural strength, and that comes with investing time every single day in your walk with Him.

I don't know about you but I can get anxious sometimes. If you know me, you may have heard this story, but I actually really struggled with anxiety when I was younger. It was so bad to the point I almost passed out sometimes. I went to every doctor, took every test, we couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. It literally felt like I had some kind of heart condition or something of that sort. My chest physically hurt all the time. We later realized what I was battling was anxiety. Yes, anxiety can even bring physical pain and discomfort. It was not a fun thing to walk through for sure. But, my parents sat me down one night after I couldn't fall asleep, and told me that when the anxiety creeps in and I can't fall asleep, to read Philippians 4:6-7. Many of you are probably familiar with these verses. It says "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." My parents suggested I do what the verse told me to do, to list everything I was thankful for every time I started feeling anxious. And you know what I found when I started doing that? The chest pain started to go away. I started to feel actual peace. Gratefulness cannot coexist with anxiety. And guess what? Science actually proves that. Fun fact, gratitude is actually connected to systems of the brain that regulate emotions and support stress relief. When one practices gratitude, these areas of the brain can boost positive emotions and actually protect against feelings of anxiety and stress, leading to an overall calmer mood. So, even science proves it!

My point is, in the busyness when we start feeling stressed, take the time to practice gratitude. Literally the Bible says to do just that! I promise you, you will start feeling much calmer and be filled with a supernatural peace. And, spending time with Jesus on a daily basis no matter what your day to day looks like, can bring you supernatural strength and energy. He wants to help us because He loves us so much. He doesn't owe us anything, but He wants to bless us. Jesus really gave us the ultimate gift by dying a brutal death on the cross for our sins so that we could live with Him eternally. But, these are some things that come with walking with Jesus on a daily basis. The closer we get to Him, the more peace we are gonna feel. Because He is the Prince of Peace. Isn't that so cool?

I hope that this blog encourages you. That there is hope and peace you can find even in your busyness. It just comes through Jesus! Lean into Him during the busyness, don't walk away. Express all your worries and concerns to Him. He cares. Thank Him for all that He has given you (which I'm sure is a lot when you get to thinking about it). Don't we have such a great Father? Who just so happens to be the creator of the universe, by the way. The creator of the universe wants to help YOU. Let Him.
